So, we are less than 5 weeks away now, and we're chomping at the bit to get on the road.
We're really having to keep track of our money now that we are so close, because our trip budget is so tight.
There are so many things that we still need to do – it's a little stressful. We need to get the car checked out to make sure that our breaks, alignment and tires are good to go. We get a little shake when the car goes over 75, so our alignment might be off. I've been putting off getting it checked, because I'm afraid of what it might cost. That's probably not the best plan.
There are a whole bunch of little things that we need to pick up too. For instance, I need a hat. Doesn't sound like that big of a deal right? But as more and more of my hair falls out, I need one – especially when we're out hiking in the desert. Speaking of which, Janet and I both need a good pair of hiking boots. We have a ton of hiking planned and getting blisters or spraining an ankle because we didn't have proper shoes will really put a damper on things. And hiking books are surprisingly expensive, even on Amazon. And wool hiking socks are even worse at $20 – a pair!
We also need to get our laptop worked on. Our housemate Renee was kind enough to hand me down her old MACbook Pro so I didn't have to buy one for the trip, but it needs a new battery and a memory upgrade. I'm crossing my fingers that fixing it cost less than I'm budgeting.
Anyway, we started a kickstarter if you would like to help us out.
